At the foot of the Ngong Hills lies the home of Karen Blixen, the famous author whose memoirs were immortalized in the popular film “ Out of Africa”. It is now preserved as a museum - Karen Blixen Museum - where visitors can travel back in time and gain an insight into the life of this remarkable woman. Furniture, artifacts, and photographs from her days as pioneer coffee farmer are on display.
Giraffe Centre
Giraffe Centre in Nairobi was established in an attempt to save the endangered Rothschild giraffe. Having lost its natural hibitat in western Kenya due to resettlement a, only 130 Rothschild giraffe were remaining. The Giraffe Centre is home for about 14 resident Rothschild giraffes and a visit to this Giraffe Centre will offer you the incredible opprotunity to hand feed, observe and even kiss the friendly Rothschild giraffes . The Giraffe Centre gives local and international visitors a chance to come into close contact with these remarkable, graceful animals and give you the chance to appreciate the long road travelled to their current home . It is surrounded by 140 acres of indigenous forest and is also home to a wide range of bird species ,warthogs and even the elusive Bush Buck.
