MT. KILIMANJARO

Mt Kilimanjaro is the highest peak in Africa rising 19,340 ft (5,895m), the largest free standing mountain in the world and one of the seven summits, the seventh highest points on each continent in the world. Any person who is physically fit can climb this mountain to reach the summit Uhuru Peak 5,895m and look out over Africa.

There is no special equipment required to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro because the routes allow a gradual hike “non technical” with the full support of the climbing professional guides. We recommend a 6 to 8 days hike depending on the route chosen. Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro up to the summit which includes one day for acclimatization between 10,000 and 15,000 ft. there are several routes to chose from and vary by popularity and steepness and are discussed below:

CLIMBING ROUTES

Marangu Route
Machame Route

RONGAI / MARANGU – 8 DAYS

This is the second easiest route on the mountain after Marangu and less frequently used. It is the only route to approach the mountain from the Northeast. The first few days of this trek retain a tangible sense of wilderness, passing through some wild and beautiful scenery. On the final day and the descent the route is common to the Marangu, which has disadvantages in terms of traffic, but by then you probably don't care any more and just want to get down and take a shower. There are probably only a dozen mountain teams who actually know this route well and for this reason it is not possible to offer an adequate medium specification Rongai climb.

Accommodation on the mountain is in tents (even on descent) which the porters will pitch for you. You will need a sleeping bag, warm clothes and walking poles. This is a steep, tough trek within the limits of a fit individual used to walking in mountain areas.
